Uvex Race 8 wurde von UVEX-Ingenieuren und Athleten aus BMC-etixx Pro-Triathlon-Teams entwickelt. Die deutsche Triathlete Laura Philipp half dabei, den Helm weiter zu optimieren. Um die Aerodynamik zu verbessern, ist Form ein verkürzter Tränen. Die Helmseiten verfügen über speziell angeordnete Grübchen, wie die auf Golfbällen, die den Luftwiderstand verringern und Turbulenzen verhindern. Eine zentrale Frontentlüftung am Punkt des maximalen Stehluftdrucks sorgt für die Luftströme in einer Bewegung um und durch den Helm. Das magnetische Visierobjektiv mit Litemirror Smoke (S1) kann mit einer Hand betrieben werden, passt perfekt zum Helm und schließt nahtlos. Wenn es nicht benötigt wird, speichert es leicht auf der Helmschale in einer speziell gestalteten „Parkposition“. Die Form des Helms deckt die Schultern perfekt ab, so dass die Luft mit wenig Turbulenzen über den Hinterkopf und Körper über den Hinterkopf und den Körper fließt. In Windkanaltests zeigt das UVEX -Rennen 8 eine signifikante Verringerung von Leistung und Zeit. Je höher die Geschwindigkeit, desto mehr Watt speichert.
