The Washingtonia is also called the 'Mexican Fan Palm'. This palm owes its name to the first president of the United States, George Washington. The leaves of the Washingtonia, which are characterized by their beautiful light green color, are particularly large and can reach a diameter of one meter. It is a fast grower and can grow up to 15 meters high. This palm is ideal as a patio palm, garden palm or even as a room palm. Care This Mexican Fan Palm needs a sunny location and well-drained soil. This palm is a real water lover. Especially in summer, this palm needs a lot of water, preferably every day during a dry/warm summer. Like many tropical palms, Washingtonia produces a substantial root system to provide itself with nutrition and water. The plant can be kept in full soil or in a pot, but if the pot is too small the palm will turn yellow and slowly die. Make sure you have a large pot and well-drained soil. The palm can be kept indoors or outdoors, but is unfortunately not very hardy. The plant can withstand up to a few degrees (+/- 5 degrees) of frost. When kept in a pot, Washingtonia can easily be placed in a hibernation room. Size The plant has a height of 50-60cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 15cm.
