Soy lecithin has several mechanisms of action. It is a fat that specifically competes in the body with lipoproteins, displacing it from the places where it tends to be deposited. As it is an emulsifier, it reduces the size of fat vacuoles in the bloodstream, improving the ratio of small vacuoles (HDL or good lipoprotein) in relation to larger ones (LDL or bad lipoprotein). It has an antioxidant action that causes the lipoprotein to oxidize less and, therefore, that the same amount has a lower atherogenic power, that is, it forms less atherosclerosis plaques, basically composed of oxidized LDL lipoprotein. Senile degeneration, which causes memory loss, seems to improve remarkably with the regular supply of phospholipids of good biological quality. Lecithin is also useful in cases of stress, times of exams or in general to nourish the brain. It is recommended to take one tablespoon a day with the main meals. Do not exceed the expressly recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or for a healthy lifestyle.
