The TSL2591 light sensor is an advanced digital light sensor, suitable for use in various lighting conditions. Compared to low-cost cadmium sulfide cells, this sensor offers higher accuracy, enabling precise lux calculations. It supports configurable gain and integration time settings, with a detection range from 0.000188 lux up to 88,000 lux. It features both infrared and full-spectrum photodiodes, allowing separate measurement of infrared, full-spectrum, and visible light. The TSL2591 provides an extremely high dynamic range of 600,000,000:1. Note that the I²C address is fixed at 0x29 and cannot be changed. The board includes a voltage regulator and operates within a supply voltage range of 3.3V to 5.0V. It integrates a 16-bit ADC, making it compatible with any microcontroller—even those without analog inputs. Operating current is approximately 0.4 mA, dropping to less than 5 µA in power-down mode, making it ideal for low-power applications.
