Begonia 'Maui Sunset' Ø12cm

Begonia 'Maui Sunset' - Rex cultivar with unique spiraled leaves in shades of magenta pink, metallic silver and tropical green. Three-dimensional sculptural form, named after Hawaii sunsets. A sought-after beauty and a striking statement piece for any plant lover. Care instructions Begonia 'Maui Sunset' is an easygoing plant that generously rewards a little attention with foliage of unparalleled beauty. Growth is medium-fast under optimal conditions, with the plant developing new leaves monthly during the growing season. The final size in indoor culture reaches approximately 25-40 cm in height and 40-50 cm in width, with the rhizome extending laterally over time. For the development of the spiral foliage and vibrant colors, follow the care requirements: Light: bright indirect light is essential for color development - avoid direct sun, which can scorch the tender leaves. East-facing windowsill or location 1-2 meters from a bright south-facing window. Temperature: optimal range 18-24°C; keep it above 13°C and away from cold drafts or sudden variations. Maintain constant conditions throughout the year. Watering: moderate - water when the top 2-3 cm of substrate has dried, approximately every 5 days in summer and 10-14 days in winter. Water only at the base of the plant, avoiding leaves. Standing water causes rhizome rot. Humidity: 60-80% is ideal - use a humidifier or tray with moist pebbles under the pot. The plant is happiest at humidity above 50%; in drier air it may show occasional dry edges. Substrate: well-drained, rich mix - universal substrate + perlite (30%) + sphagnum moss (15%). The rhizome is placed on the surface, never buried. Fertilization: every 3-4 weeks during the growing season (March-September) with balanced liquid fertilizer diluted by half; suspend fertilization in winter. Propagation: by leaf cuttings - the classic technique for Rex Begonias. Cut a healthy leaf, make incisions on the main veins and place on moist substrate. New plantlets appear in 4-8 weeks.
