Hoya cumingiana 'Outer Variegata' Ø6cm

Hoya cumingiana 'Outer Variegata' is a compact, bushy wax plant with small thick leaves edged by a cream-gold band along the margin. At maturity it produces clusters of fragrant, star-shaped greenish-yellow flowers. A niche, elegant and hardy selection, ideal for a bright shelf or a hanging pot. Care instructions It grows at a gentle but steady pace, rewarding patience with ever-denser foliage and its first fragrant clusters. Like most wax plants, it prefers to be kept on the dry side rather than overwatered - its epiphytic roots cannot tolerate a soggy substrate. It does beautifully in a hanging pot, where the bushy stems can spill softly, alongside other Trailing Plants. Light: bright indirect light; a few hours of gentle morning sun intensify the variegation and encourage flowering. Temperature: comfortable between 18 and 27 °C; it blooms best in warm, stable air, sheltered from cold draughts. Water: let the mix dry out well between waterings; it tolerates short dry spells but cannot stand permanently wet roots. Humidity: moderate humidity, 50-60%; it also copes well with ordinary household air. Substrate: a very free-draining epiphyte mix - pine bark, perlite and coco fibre, with no heavy soil. Feeding: in the growing season, a diluted bloom-friendly fertiliser every few weeks. Propagation: by stem cuttings with a few pairs of leaves, rooted in a light, moist mix.
